A 60-second 1-2-3 on the positive case for Hillary

It’s always good to have your elevator pitch ready to go in case opportunity strikes.

I was at a precinct delegate training meeting today and there were plenty of Democrats in room from both sides of the primary.  We were talking about canvassing, the down-ballot races everyone was united on, and the honest question came up of what an otherwise unenthusiastic canvasser or phone banker should do if someone asked about Hillary. As a (much more enthusiastic!) Hillary supporter from the primaries, I wanted to suggest some points, and what I said seemed to go over really well in the room, so I thought I’d drop it here for whoever might want one.

“Other than Trump being bad, what’s the positive case for Hillary for President?”

When she was First Lady, she tried to get Hillarycare, but it failed. She turned right around and pushed for part of it, the Children’s Health Insurance Program.  You may know some people with kids that benefit from this.  She worked with a Republican Congress and got what she could to make kids’ lives better.

When she was Senator from New York, 9/11 first responders said they had been exposed to health issues from the site, and she fought for the compensation program that eventually passed.  She listened to her constituents and got a solution for their problems.

When she was Secretary of State, she lined up the world behind tough sanctions on Iran.  She was even able to get Russia and China on board, big trading partners of Iran, when it would have never worked without them.  It brought Iran to the negotiating table.  Iran is a non-nuclear state today without military action from us, and her leadership deserves credit for that.

As First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State, she’s been in this for a long time, and she gets things done.  That’s why she ought to be President.

Of course I think there are a hundred more things that might be said, but the 1-2-3 is all about the art of slimming.  Got your own elevator pitch?  Let’s hear it in the comments!
